Four insurance companies have announced leadership appointments in the last 24hrs, with Liberty Mutual Insurance naming a new president for its Global Risk Solutions division, BrokerTech Ventures appointing a chief innovation officer, Prime Insurance adding a president to oversee high net worth and specialty programs, and Higginbotham hiring an employee benefits practice leader to expand operations across the Midwest.
Prime Insurance has appointed Fernando “Fernie” Alvarezas (pictured) as president of high net worth & specialty programs to support growth in the company’s high net worth and excess & surplus lines business, the company announced. Based in South Florida, Alvarez brings experience in specialty insurance program leadership across real estate, construction, financial and sports sectors.
“Prime’s focus on disciplined underwriting, collaboration, and program development creates a strong foundation for delivering comprehensive, end-to-end high net worth and specialty solutions that address increasingly complex risk profiles,” Alvarez said.
Neeti Bhalla Johnson will step down as president of Global Risk Solutions effective March 6 to pursue new opportunities, with Matthew Moore succeeding her in the role. Bhalla Johnson led Global Risk Solutions’ commercial and specialty reinsurance business across 24 countries, producing $23 billion in gross written premium, according to a company statement.
“The people I’ve worked with in GRS – our teams around the world, our clients, our broker partners – have made these past few years incredibly rewarding,” Bhalla Johnson said. “What I’m most proud of is the team we built and what we accomplished together.”
Liberty Mutual Insurance chairman, president and chief executive officer Tim Sweeney praised her contributions.
“As president of GRS, she led an impressive turnaround - dramatically improving our underwriting results, attracting top-tier talent, and setting a strategic direction that positions us for long-term success,” Sweeney said.
Moore, who has been with Liberty Mutual for more than 24 years and served as president of underwriting at GRS for the past four years, will assume the president role on March 6. He previously chaired the London Market Group and served on the boards of the Lloyd’s Members Association and Pool Reinsurance Company Limited.
BrokerTech Ventures has appointed Kacie Conroy as chief innovation officer effective immediately, the organisation announced. Conroy has advised BTV since its inception and serves as vice president of digital products at M3 Insurance.
“Kacie has been a trusted advisor to BTV since day one, and her impact has been felt across our ecosystem,” said Dan Keough, Holmes Murphy chairman and CEO and BTV co-CEO.
The appointment precedes BTV’s 2026 Selection Series, scheduled for 17-18 Feb, where partner organizations will evaluate 23 insurtech start-ups for potential inclusion in the accelerator program.
Higginbotham has announced Jason Rankin has joined the firm as employee benefits practice leader for Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Rankin has more than 25 years of experience in underwriting, production, agency ownership, and practice leadership. He most recently served as managing director at Foundation Risk Partners, leading the employee benefits practice in Kentucky.
