Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, Specialty Program Group LLC (SPG) and Brown & Riding have announced recent appointments and leadership changes spanning marine and energy underwriting, life and annuity sales leadership, and wholesale property placement.

SPG appoints sales chief for life & annuity division

Todd Miles (pictured top), CFP, joined as chief sales officer at SPG Life & Annuity Division, effective January 5, 2026.

SPG said Miles will lead sales strategy and execution across its life insurance business and work with leadership to support growth initiatives and relationships with advisors and distribution partners nationwide.

Miles joins as SPG continues building its life & annuity division, which is expected to bring together AgencyONE, Brokers’ Service Marketing Group (BSMG) and Business Underwriters Associates (BUA). Miles is based in Sarasota, Florida.

“Todd is a proven sales leader with deep industry relationships and a strong track record of building and developing high-impact teams,” said Jason Lea, CEO of BSMG and SPG’s life & annuity division.

Brown & Riding adds wholesale property specialist

Brown & Riding has announced that Seth Fagan (pictured immediately above) has joined its national property practice.

Jeff Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer, said, “Seth is known for his ability to navigate complex property placements and the strength of his carrier and market relationships,” and noted his experience in long-term client relationships.

Fagan brings more than 20 years of wholesale insurance experience, specializing in complex property risks including commercial real estate, condominium associations, multifamily apartments, difficult manufacturing accounts and monoline earthquake coverage in the New Madrid seismic and California/Pacific Northwest zones.

Starwind Marine and Energy names leadership team

Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, a CRC Group division, has announced leadership appointments within Starwind Marine and Energy that took effect January 1, 2026.

The appointments follow the October launch of the Starwind Marine and Energy brand and are part of an ongoing consolidation of JH Blades, Blades Marine, Southern Marine and Energy Technical Underwriters (ETU) under a unified platform.

David Manion assumed the role of chairman of the Starwind Marine division. The company said Manion will provide strategic guidance, support cross-segment alignment and help drive the division’s long-term growth and underwriting discipline.

Starwind also reported two promotions tied to legacy brands integrated into the consolidated operation. Alex Porter was promoted to head of hull and marine liabilities, overseeing the segment previously operating as Blades Marine. Chester Rose was promoted to head of cargo and stock throughput, leading the business formerly known as Southern Marine.

“These appointments reflect the strong leadership bench within Starwind Marine and Energy,” said Graham Jenks, president of Starwind Marine and Energy. “David, Alex, and Chester bring proven technical knowledge and a commitment to service that positions us for continued momentum.”
