Two companies have expanded their US leadership teams.

NFP adds expertise in complex property

Melissa Sage (pictured, left) has joined NFP as senior vice president and complex property leader for the Atlantic region. 

Reporting to Tim Ryan, senior vice president of complex risk, Sage brings more than 20 years of experience in carrier and broker operations across the insurance industry. 

Sage's prior roles include being vice president of property placement and analytics at USI Insurance Services; territory underwriting specialist at Sentry; senior underwriter and sustainability leader at Liberty Mutual, and senior product analyst at Sompo International. 

Sage holds certifications as a construction risk specialist from the International Risk Management Institute and as a chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU), and previously served as president of the Charlotte CPCU chapter. 

Howden appoints new general counsel for US retail

Chris Aries (pictured, right) has been named general counsel for Howden's US retail broking and advisory business. 

As primary legal advisor, Aries will cover both specialty and retail insurance lines, contributing to business strategy, governance and operational planning.

Aries brings over 20 years of experience supporting multinational insurance organizations through strategic acquisitions, large-scale integrations, and platform expansion. He is recognized for converting complex regulatory and operational requirements into practical solutions and identifying pressure points early to maintain momentum.

At Howden, Aries will build a high-impact legal team.
