QBE builds environmental specialty business
QBE North America has appointed Jayne Cunningham (pictured top, left) as senior vice president and environmental underwriting leader. Based in North Carolina, Cunningham will report to Dan Fortin, president of Specialty Insurance.
With more than 30 years of industry experience, including senior roles at Beazley, XL Capital, Zurich, and AIG, Cunningham is tasked with advancing QBE’s new Environmental specialty business. The segment aims to meet rising demand for coverage addressing environmental exposures and regulatory requirements.
Southern Trust names new CEO
Douglas Jensen (pictured top, center) has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Southern Trust Insurance Company, effective September 24. A veteran of commercial and personal lines, Jensen most recently served as COO at First Acceptance Insurance.
Southern Trust said Jensen’s leadership will focus on driving profitable growth while maintaining its reputation for high-touch service to independent agents and policyholders across the Southeast.
The Standard promotes Frazey
Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) has promoted Amy Frazey (pictured top, right) to senior vice president and managing director of StanCorp Mortgage Investors and StanCorp Real Estate.
Frazey, who joined The Standard in 2000, will now lead operations across the company's commercial mortgage portfolio and investment properties. Her promotion highlights the company’s emphasis on maintaining strong investment operations during a period of strategic expansion.
Marsh expands Florida presence

Marsh has named Fred Smith (pictured immediately above) as Florida corporate and risk management segment leader, effective October 1. Smith, who has been leading the corporate segment for the Greater Mid-Atlantic region, will relocate to Miami and report to Megan McClellan, Southeast Zone leader.
His new role focuses on delivering risk and insurance solutions to middle-market and large, complex clients across Florida.
Smith brings experience both inside and outside insurance, having previously led growth initiatives at Marsh, launched a luxury hospitality venture and advised global firms as a consultant with Bain & Co.
Alliant adds to employee benefits leadership
Alliant Insurance Services has hired Alex Gramling as senior vice president within its Employee Benefits Group. Based in Arkansas, Gramling brings consulting and corporate leadership experience across group health, life, disability, and stop-loss coverage.
Alliant said Gramling’s background enables him to apply data-driven strategies to create long-term benefits solutions for complex employers nationwide.
MSIG USA appoints general counsel
MSIG USA has named Erika Shalette as general counsel. Reporting to CFO and CAO Kent Ziegler, Shalette brings nearly 25 years of legal experience, including senior roles at Chubb, AIG, and most recently Amynta Group.
She will oversee legal and compliance functions while supporting MSIG USA’s growth strategy in the US specialty insurance market.
