The global insurance and reinsurance industry is seeing a wave of senior appointments, reflecting efforts by carriers and brokers to strengthen governance, enhance underwriting discipline, and expand specialty capabilities. 

Everest Reinsurance names new CUO for global reinsurance

Everest Reinsurance has appointed Jiten Voralia as chief underwriting officer for global reinsurance. He succeeds Chris Downey, who was recently promoted to EVP and Group CUO. 

Voralia (pictured above, left), who joined the company in 2022, has held senior roles at Swiss Re in the US, Asia-Pacific and Australia, and began his career at Benfield and PwC. He will continue to serve as head of North America Treaty Reinsurance until a successor is named.

PALIG expands board with finance leader

Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) has appointed David J. Turner, Jr., CFO of Regions Financial Corporation, to its board of directors, effective September 1.

Turner (pictured above, right), who has been CFO of Regions since 2010, will also serve on PALIG’s finance and audit committees. He brings deep expertise in corporate finance, governance, and M&A, alongside board roles at Diversified Energy and community leadership with organizations including Junior Achievement of Alabama and United Way of Central Alabama.

Alliant strengthens specialty and human capital divisions

Alliant Insurance Services has added two senior executives to its ranks. Nick Martin joins Alliant Specialty as senior vice president, tasked with leading the national alternative risk transfer platform. 

In its human capital division, Brian Muller has been named vice president. With more than 15 years of corporate and consulting HR experience, Muller will focus on compensation strategy, pay equity, incentive program design and broader organizational planning.

Hannover Re US announces CEO transition

Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re US) will see a leadership transition in 2026. 

Clint Thompson, currently EVP and CFO, will succeed Pete Schaefer as president and CEO on January 1, 2026. Schaefer, who has served as CEO since 2001, will retire at the end of 2025 but remain vice chairman of the board.

In addition, John Di Meo, currently chief actuary, will step into the role of EVP and CFO. Together, Thompson and Di Meo will continue to build on Hannover Re US' reputation in the life and health reinsurance sector.
