Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, a division of CRC Group, has announced that Coastal Insurance Underwriters (CIU) will now operate under the name Starwind Community Associations.
The rebranding marks the program administrator’s formal integration into the Starwind Specialty portfolio.
CIU, recognized for its insurance programs for condominium associations, homeowner associations, and golf and country clubs, has used a proprietary web-based platform for real-time quoting, binding, and issuing policies. The company said that the rebrand is intended to reflect its alignment with Starwind Specialty and its focus on expanded capabilities and growth.
Sim Bridges (pictured above), president and chief underwriting officer, said the change is “more than a name change; it’s a promise to bring even greater resources and market access to our clients and partners.”
Bridges added that the company is building on its established track record while looking ahead with the support of the Starwind Specialty brand.
Starwind Community Associations will continue to operate with its existing teams, offering tailored insurance programs for community associations. The company will also benefit from Starwind Specialty’s expanded infrastructure, capacity, and carrier relationships.
In a related move, Starwind Specialty has been consolidating its marine and energy operations by bringing together JH Blades, Southern Marine, and Energy Technical Underwriters under the new Starwind Marine and Energy brand.
This integration is part of a broader strategy to streamline operations and strengthen the company’s presence in these specialized markets. The process remains ongoing, with leadership changes supporting the transition.
Graham Jenks, who previously served as president of Southern Marine for eight years, has been named president of Starwind Marine and Energy. Jenks now oversees JH Blades Energy, JH Blades Marine, Southern Marine, and Energy Technical Underwriters.
Additionally, Starwind Specialty has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Charles Pyfrom as executive vice president, sales and distribution for Starwind Cannabis, the company’s specialty program focused on the cannabis industry.
Pyfrom, who brings experience from his previous role as chief marketing officer at a managing general underwriting firm in the legal cannabis, CBD, and hemp sectors, will oversee national sales and distribution strategy, drive growth, and strengthen broker partnerships for the program.
