Chubb has promoted Steve Haney (pictured above, left) to president and chief underwriting officer of Global Surety, effective immediately.
Haney, previously division president of North America Surety and chief underwriting officer of Global Surety, will oversee strategy, underwriting, and profit-and-loss across the company’s global surety operations
Haney has nearly 30 years of underwriting experience. He joined the company in 1997 as a surety underwriter and has held leadership roles in underwriting and product development, including serving as executive vice president for ACE’s worldwide surety business before the ACE-Chubb merger.
He will report to Juan Luis Ortega, executive vice president of Chubb Group and president of North America Insurance, and Paul McNamee, executive vice president of Chubb Group and president of Overseas General Insurance.
Teresa Black (pictured above, right), formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer of North America Surety, will succeed Haney as division president of North America Surety.
Black has 28 years of insurance industry experience, more than 20 of them with Chubb. Her previous roles include senior vice president of distribution management, vice president and national segment leader for New York, and assistant vice president of the financial lines division.
In her new position, Black will have executive oversight and profit-and-loss responsibility for the region. She will report to Haney and Scott Meyer, senior vice president of Chubb Group and chief operating officer of North America Insurance.
“Steve’s depth of experience in global surety sets him apart as a driving force in the industry, making him uniquely qualified to shape our strategy and deliver exceptional value to clients,” Ortega said.
Chubb has also recently announced other leadership updates across its global operations. Tim Stapleton has been named chief underwriting officer for Overseas General Insurance, while Jason Neu assumes the role of executive vice president of financial lines in the same division.
In the US, Megan Lynch will lead North America sales and distribution for Chubb’s accident and health business as senior vice president, a role that takes effect March 3.
Meanwhile, Mark Shaw will lead the workplace benefits division as division president, focusing on voluntary benefits delivered through Combined Insurance.
