Chubb has appointed Kim Hare (pictured above, left) as senior vice president and head of North America property claims, effective Aug. 18.

Hare will be responsible for overseeing the insurer’s property claims operations across North America, covering both personal and commercial lines. She will report directly to Kevin Rampe, executive vice president and head of North America claims.

In her new role, Hare will lead executive operations for the property claims business, with a focus on service delivery and enhancing the digital claims experience. Rampe said her leadership will be instrumental in advancing Chubb’s claims strategy.

“She brings an extensive understanding of property and casualty products, sales and service, and claims management, including large loss claims,” he noted. “Her proven leadership will ensure we continue delivering a premium claims service.”

Hare joins Chubb from Farmers Insurance, where she most recently served as senior vice president and head of property claims. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, she has held a variety of leadership roles, including overseeing Auto Central Zone claims, managing the West Zone region and directing the National Med PIP Strategy and Operations. She also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Hare will succeed Tim Barziza (pictured right), who will retire in April 2026 after a long career in the insurance sector.

Barziza has spent the past 22 years at Chubb, including seven years leading the property claims team. He has been involved in shaping the company’s catastrophe response strategy, coordinating client outreach, and managing claims during major loss events. His career in the industry spans more than three decades, with significant experience in both technical and operational claims management.

The leadership transition comes at a time when property insurers are facing shifting market conditions and rising customer expectations for efficiency and transparency in claims handling. Digital innovation, combined with experienced leadership, is increasingly seen as a critical factor in maintaining service quality while managing complex and high-value claims.

For Chubb, the appointment of Hare signals a continued commitment to strengthening its claims capabilities. With her extensive background in property and casualty operations, the company said she is expected to play a key role in driving both operational performance and customer service standards across the business.
