Aon has named Avishek B Rath (pictured above) as head of growth for facultative reinsurance solutions in India. Rath assumed the Mumbai-based role in January 2026.
Rath joins Aon with nearly 20 years of experience in senior leadership roles spanning energy, renewables and government sectors. He previously spent more than 18 years at Marsh India, where he held positions including head of the government business group, head of the renewable energy practice and head of the upstream energy practice.
At Marsh India, Rath most recently served as senior vice president and head of the government business group from November 2024 to November 2025. He also led the company's renewable energy practice from January 2021 to November 2025.
In his new role, Rath will lead the delivery of facultative solutions and insights to help clients manage portfolio risk and access capacity. He will also work with Aon's placement, analytics, treaty and specialty teams to develop integrated solutions.
The appointment follows a series of leadership changes within Aon's reinsurance operations across Asia-Pacific. Rupert Moore was appointed CEO of reinsurance for the region, moving to Singapore in late 2025 after serving as UK CEO for reinsurance for three years.
Moore's appointment complements the earlier naming of Soeren Soltysiak as CEO for Reinsurance Solutions in Asia, responsible for treaty, facultative, analytics and operations across APAC. Soltysiak reports to George Attard, CEO of reinsurance solutions for the Asia-Pacific region.
The appointment follows Aon's launch of facultative facilities in the Asia-Pacific region in 2025. These include the Marlin facility and the Aon Client Treaty, which provide property, casualty and specialty clients with capacity across various structures.
Rath holds an MBA in insurance from the National Insurance Academy, which he completed in 2007. He also earned a bachelor's degree in commerce with a focus on marketing and advertising from Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, graduating with first-class distinction in 2004.
He is a certified composite insurance and reinsurance broker, licensed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India since April 2007. Rath also holds an associate certification from the Insurance Institute of India.
During his tenure at Marsh India, Rath received the Marsh Global CEO Award in 2023 and was recognized with client retention awards in 2016, 2017 and 2023-24.
