Aon has announced changes to its reinsurance executive leadership team, naming Andrew Laing (pictured above, left) as UK CEO for reinsurance and appointing Rupert Moore (pictured above, right) to lead the Asia Pacific region.

Laing’s promotion is subject to regulatory approval. He will continue in his role as global Facultative CEO, a position he has held since 2016, and remain based in London. He has overseen the facultative division during a period of sustained growth for Aon’s reinsurance business.

Moore, who has served as UK CEO for reinsurance for the past three years, will move to Singapore later in 2025 to take on the role of CEO of reinsurance for Asia Pacific. He will also serve as chairman of the region for Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group.

In addition to his new responsibilities, Moore will advise APAC CEO Jennifer Richards on advancing Aon’s Risk Capital strategy in Japan. He previously spent five years as CEO of reinsurance in Japan.

Aon's leadership appointments follow broader shifts in the global reinsurance market, where capacity levels reached a record $715 billion in 2024. According to Aon’s latest market dynamics report, catastrophe bond issuance nearly hit $50 billion by the first quarter of 2025, signaling a strong appetite from investors and a competitive environment for buyers.

Alfonso Valera, CEO of international for reinsurance at Aon, said the appointments mark a significant step in strengthening the leadership structure of the division.

“Andrew and Rupert have combined decades of experience in the re/insurance marketplace and have a proven ability to achieve long-term sustainable growth while shaping better business decisions on behalf of clients,” Valera said.

In Asia, Moore’s appointment will complement the recent naming of Soeren Soltysiak as CEO for Reinsurance Solutions in the region. Soltysiak, who reports to George Attard, is responsible for treaty, facultative, analytics, and operations across APAC.

The appointments also come after Aon strengthened its leadership in the United States in late 2024, naming Stefan Hofmann as CEO of US reinsurance solutions and Kevin Traetow as vice chairman. Both report to Andy Marcell, CEO of Risk Capital, as part of a wider effort to unify reinsurance capabilities globally.
