Aon appoints Gerardo Polanco for Iberia Re

Aon plc has appointed Gerardo Polanco as general manager of its Iberia Reinsurance team, effective immediately. 

Polanco will oversee collaboration across regions, business lines and specialties in an effort to refine the firm’s service offerings and support client decision-making. He previously served as Aon’s head of facultative reinsurance for the Nordics, Benelux, France, Spain and Portugal. 

In a message posted on his LinkedIn following the appointment, Polanco said he was grateful to colleagues and clients for their trust and support since he began working in the sector

“It is has been a long journey since 1997. Grateful to my colleagues and Clients for their trust and support,” he wrote. “Proud for thinking of me for the challenges and opportunities to come. Full energy and motivation.” 

With more than 25 years in the reinsurance sector, Polanco has been involved in developing Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business in Spain and across the sub-region. He is based in Madrid and will report directly to Tomas Novotny, EMEA CEO and chairman of international for Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions. 

According to Novotny, Polanco’s leadership and experience will play a central role in implementing the company’s Iberia strategy and in strengthening its regional operations.  

“Gerardo’s strategic vision, leadership and deep market expertise will be pivotal in advancing our strategy in Iberia and strengthening our capabilities, in alignment with Aon’s global objectives,” said Novotny. “In this new role, he will help to enhance value for our clients as he creates and manages important internal and external relationships that enable us to optimize our service delivery.”
