Jeanette Ward, president and CEO of Texas Mutual Insurance Company, has been appointed to the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) 2025 board of directors as one of its insurer members.
Ward took on the role of president and CEO at Texas Mutual in 2023, following her unanimous selection by the company’s board of directors in February of that year. She officially assumed leadership on March 1 that year, succeeding former CEO Rich Gergasko.
Her appointment followed a nearly 30-year career within the organization, which she joined in 1993 as a receptionist. Over the years, she advanced through several departments, including strategic planning, claims, safety, and medical network operations.
In her capacity as president and CEO, she leads Texas Mutual’s strategy and operations, focusing on the delivery of workers’ compensation services.
Under Ward’s leadership, Texas Mutual approved a $350 million policyholder dividend distribution in 2024. This marked the company’s 26th consecutive year of returning dividends to its policyholders, with the cumulative total exceeding $4.4 billion.
In addition to her work at Texas Mutual, Ward is involved in a range of nonprofit and industry organizations, including the American Heart Association, United Way, Early Matters Greater Austin, and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.
NCCI, a provider of workers’ compensation data and analytics, supports the industry through trend analysis, rate recommendations, and infrastructure maintenance intended to reinforce system stability.
“NCCI’s work to analyze trends, recommend actuarially appropriate rates and maintain the workers’ compensation infrastructure is essential to maintaining a fair and sustainable system. I look forward to supporting this mission and bringing Texas Mutual’s perspective to the national conversation,” Ward said.
Ward’s appointment to the NCCI board comes in the wake of a leadership transition at the organization. Bill Donnell, who has served as NCCI’s president and CEO, retired in February, with Tracy Ryan named his successor.
