Orion180 Insurance has launched its FLEX Home Insurance product in nine counties across eastern Massachusetts.
The product allows policyholders to adjust core coverages, deductibles, and copayment levels to match their financial situations and risk preferences. The company said the offering is intended to address ongoing insurance availability challenges in the state, particularly in coastal regions.
Massachusetts has seen a 15% increase in homeowners’ insurance premiums between 2022 and 2023. The state also ranks fifth nationally for homeowners’ insurance non-renewals, according to figures cited by the US Senate Budget Committee.
FLEX is being offered without distance-based exclusions for coastal properties, which Orion180 describes as a distinguishing feature in a market where many insurers have scaled back coastal exposure. The product is available through select agents in Essex, Plymouth, Middlesex, Barnstable, Suffolk, Dukes, Norfolk, Nantucket, and Bristol counties.
In a statement, Orion180 CEO Ken Gregg said the company’s goal is to deliver more accessible options to markets facing tightening capacity.
“Massachusetts homeowners have faced higher premiums and fewer options due to the increasing threat of weather-related events. FLEX delivers tailored protection, transparent pricing, and peace of mind,” he said. “Agents and homeowners can feel at ease because we have a 0% state abandonment rate and stand firmly behind the markets we serve.”
The FLEX product allows homeowners to select coverages that reflect their individual risk profiles. Policies are available to coastal property owners without geographic restrictions based on proximity to the shoreline.
The product also includes a claims-free incentive that may reward eligible policyholders with a bonus of up to 100% of their first-year premium, depending on the length of their claims-free history. Additional discounts may be available to those who qualify based on criteria such as age, military or first responder status, and yard characteristics, according to the report.
The Massachusetts rollout is part of Orion180’s broader expansion into underserved or capacity-constrained markets in the US. The company primarily distributes its products through independent agents.
