USI Affinity, a division of USI Insurance Services, has partnered with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) to introduce a nationwide insurance program for ASA members.
The program gives members access to business and personal insurance options from A-rated carriers, including practice coverage, employee benefits, and personal insurance for themselves and their families. It is the first program offered exclusively to ASA members.
ASA president Donald E. Arnold, M.D., FACHE, FASA, said the collaboration with USI aims to give anesthesiologists “a comprehensive and competitive set of insurance options to help mitigate risks and improve financial stability in both their practices and personal lives.”
“Our members will have access to industry-leading insurance products and solutions beneficial to residents and early career anesthesiologists, locums, solo practitioners, those transitioning into retirement and more,” Arnold said.
Mike Mooney (pictured above), senior vice president at USI Affinity, said the company is drawing on its carrier relationships to provide a broad range of coverage to ASA members across the country.
“Through our collaboration with the ASA, we’ve learned the needs and challenges faced by ASA members and developed a tailored insurance program to address them. As the program grows, we will work hard to continuously align our insurance solutions with the shifting needs of this membership,” Mooney said.
USI’s commercial property and casualty outlook for early 2025 showed that some segments experienced rate reductions of between 5% and 30% on renewals, especially where incumbent carriers competed to retain business.
These market dynamics create a mixed environment for affinity programs: while lower rates can make coverage more attractive to members, brokers must also navigate tightening underwriting standards in other lines affected by rising catastrophe losses and inflationary pressures.
Meanwhile, USI’s recent acquisition of Rogers Insurance Center in Oklahoma expands its regional presence, adding to its distribution capabilities and service infrastructure.
