Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Strategic Services Group, Inc., an employee benefits consulting firm based in Rochester Hills, Mich. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Strategic Services Group delivers employee benefits consulting services to clients in Michigan and the broader Midwest. The firm’s leadership, including Doug Roehm and Greg Sudderth, will continue to operate from their current location. They will report to Brian Lomas, who oversees Gallagher’s Great Lakes region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.
“Strategic Services Group has a strong reputation for client service and will expand our employee health benefits consulting capabilities in the region,” said J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
Gallagher also welcomed the Strategic Services Group team, saying, “I am excited to welcome Doug, Greg and their associates to Gallagher.”
The acquisition is part of Gallagher’s ongoing expansion strategy in the US. Earlier this year, the company also announced the purchase of Imbs Holdings, Inc., a retail insurance broker based in Missouri, further strengthening its presence in the Midwest.
Earlier in March, Gallagher completed the acquisition of Woodruff Sawyer, a major US insurance brokerage, for $1.2 billion. This acquisition contributed to Gallagher’s efforts to broaden its portfolio and reinforce its position in the national insurance market.
Gallagher’s revenue has more than doubled since 2020, with total assets nearly tripling in the same period. The company’s approach has centered on reinvesting cash flow into acquisitions, supporting its rapid growth and expanding capabilities.
Gallagher currently employs approximately 44,000 people worldwide and holds a 4.6% share of the US insurance brokerage market. The company’s scale and reach continue to grow as it pursues additional acquisitions and expands its client base.
