ALKEME Insurance has acquired Gorges & Company, Inc., a Timonium, Maryland-based agency. The deal extends ALKEME’s reach in the Mid-Atlantic and broadens its ability to serve clients with specialized insurance requirements.
Gorges & Company, established in 1937, offers a range of insurance products, including employee benefits, business and personal property and casualty, nonprofit solutions, and Medicare.
The agency is also known for serving clients in specialized markets such as high-value personal lines, apartment complexes, condominium associations, spas, salons, wellness centers, independent contractors, and nonprofit organizations.

He added that the team’s expertise in benefits, property and casualty, and nonprofit solutions will strengthen ALKEME’s East Coast operations and enhance its offerings nationwide.
Tom McNamara, one of the owners at Gorges & Company, said the partnership with ALKEME will provide access to expanded resources and allow the agency to maintain its community focus. “We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will create for both our clients and our team,” McNamara said.
The company’s acquisition activity has remained robust, with ALKEME reporting a 66% surge in acquisitions in 2024, even as the overall broker M&A market contracted by 26%.
In addition to its latest move in Maryland, ALKEME has continued to pursue acquisitions across the country. In August, the company acquired Sheets Forrest Draper Insurance, a fourth-generation agency based in Marion, Iowa. This acquisition further expanded ALKEME’s presence in the Midwest.
ALKEME has also made strategic leadership appointments to support its expansion. In April, the company named Don Esparza as president of its South/Southwest region. Esparza, an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, was brought on to oversee regional operations and lead growth initiatives in key southern and southwestern markets.
Earlier in April, ALKEME entered Michigan for the first time with the acquisition of Crawford Insurance Group, a personal and commercial insurance agency in Rochester Hills.
