QBE North America has expanded its healthcare liability offerings with a Life Sciences insurance product aimed at supporting businesses that develop, manufacture or distribute medical products.

The new offering introduces a set of liability coverages designed to address exposures faced by organizations involved in clinical research, medical devices, specialty pharmaceuticals, personal care items, and animal health solutions.

Available coverages include primary and excess products-completed operations, clinical trial liability, general liability, errors and omissions (E&O), and healthcare professional liability.

Lisa McCormack, vice president and underwriting leader for Life Sciences at QBE North America, said that companies in this sector operate within a risk environment shaped by rapid change and regulatory complexity.

“Our new offering is tailored to meet the specific coverage needs of these businesses as they continue to innovate and advance health care,” McCormack said.

The product also draws from QBE’s existing Healthcare Liability solutions. According to John Livatino, senior vice president and head of Healthcare Liability, this integration allows life sciences companies to extend their coverage to include areas such as medical professional liability and health-related technology.

“Whether it’s Life Sciences, Digital Health or Miscellaneous Medical Liability, we’re committed to providing a comprehensive insurance solution to these organizations,” Livatino said.

The Life Sciences offering follows the earlier release of QBE’s Miscellaneous Medical Liability product in 2024. That product includes protection for professional liability, physical and sexual misconduct liability, general liability, E&O, employee benefits liability, technology and media liability, and excess or umbrella coverage.

Both products reflect QBE’s approach of providing specialized solutions for healthcare-related businesses operating in distinct market segments.

QBE North America is part of QBE Insurance Group Limited, a multinational insurer headquartered in Sydney and active in 26 countries. The company’s North America division conducts business primarily through its insurance subsidiaries.
