Excess and Surplus

RT Specialty has unveiled a refreshed brand and an upgraded version of RT Connector, its digital platform designed to streamline specialty insurance marketing and placement for retail agents and brokers.

The platform now provides real-time, bindable quotes and instant policy issuance with access to more than 25 carriers. It supports eight lines of business, including general liability, commercial package, property, excess liability, cyber, workers' compensation, and truckers.

RT Connector features smart document upload capabilities, allowing for more streamlined submissions and fewer manual data entries. The platform also includes integrated digital signature functionality, which aims to speed up turnaround times and reduce process friction.

Robust API capabilities are available for integration with client platforms and carrier sites, while the user interface has been enhanced for a more intuitive quoting experience on both desktop and mobile devices.

Retail agents and brokers can use RT Connector to access RT Specialty’s trading partners, including both excess and surplus (E&S) and admitted carriers. The platform also provides smart referrals to RT Specialty underwriters and brokers for risks that fall outside standard appetites.

“At RT Specialty, our priority is delivering solutions that work for our retail clients – on their terms and through their preferred channels,” said Michael VanAcker (pictured above), president of RT Specialty.

He noted that the company has “strengthened our service offerings by integrating advanced digital capabilities into RT Connector.” VanAcker said that as demand for efficient, automated solutions increases, the RT Connector platform is helping clients “navigate this critical market segment with greater speed, accuracy, and confidence.”

In July, Ryan Specialty completed the acquisition of J.M. Wilson Corporation, a Michigan-based managing general agency. J.M. Wilson, which operates six offices across the US and has a strong focus on transportation coverage, is being integrated into RT Binding Authority.

The move is expected to strengthen RT Specialty’s presence in the Midwest and enhance its transportation practice.

In June, RT Specialty also expanded its regional footprint by opening a new office in Detroit. David Derigiotis was appointed executive vice president and office president, taking the lead for RT ProExec, the company’s professional and executive liability practice group.
