BOXX Insurance is moving to solidify its foothold in the US cyber insurance market with three new leadership appointments, focusing on distribution, claims management, and technology to meet growing demand for cyber protection solutions.

Joe Gates (pictured left) has been named head of distribution, Central, where he will oversee broker and partner relations and manage access to BOXX’s all-in-one cyber insurance and protection products for both businesses and households.

Gates has more than 20 years of experience in insurance distribution, marketing, and underwriting, having worked at At-Bay, Beazley, and AIG.

"Joe's experience building strong relationships amongst brokers and partners will build upon the great response we've already had in the market to BOXX's suite of all-in-one Cyberboxx products for businesses and homes,” said Christyn Yoast, president of BOXX US.

She added that his appointment supports BOXX’s focus on developing its distribution network and growth strategy in the US.

In addition to Gates, BOXX has appointed Ray Moylan (pictured center) as claims manager under the Global Claims and Hackbusters team. Moylan, who brings nearly a decade of experience in cyber, commercial, and property claims from Marsh and Travelers, will manage the company’s proactive claims approach with its small and medium-sized business clients in the US.

Thomas Beale (pictured right) also joins BOXX as head of engineering & architecture. Based in California, he will oversee the company’s global cyber and insurance platform strategy, including the development of US API capabilities. Beale previously held senior roles at Converge Insurance, Guidewire Software, and Corax, where he gained experience in security and cyber insurance systems.

According to Yoast, the appointments demonstrate BOXX’s ongoing commitment to hiring professionals with extensive expertise in the insurance and cyber protection sectors.

"These three hires show BOXX's capabilities in attracting top talent in the marketplace to drive our mission forward. Our people are at the core of BOXX and they're the reason why we're continuing to win in a challenging cyber market environment. Joe, Ray and Thomas will help BOXX continue to offer best in class products and services to our clients and broker partners," said Yoast.

Headquartered in Toronto, BOXX Insurance offers integrated cyber insurance and protection products for individuals, families, and businesses. The company operates across several global markets and is part of Zurich Global Ventures, a platform that focuses on developing customized and digital insurance solutions.

Zurich Insurance Group announced in July that it would acquire BOXX Insurance, which will continue to operate as a standalone entity. The acquisition follows a partnership between the two companies that began in 2021 and is intended to enhance their combined capabilities in digital insurance and cyber protection.

How do you think these appointments will influence BOXX Insurance’s position in the US cyber market?
