Principal Brian Payne, who has been with the organization for more than two decades, shared his insights on what drives the agency’s success in a recent IBTV interview.

At the heart of Field Insurance’s strategy is a relentless focus on customer service and trust. “Our big focus that we really kind of hang our hat on is the customer service experience,” he said. “When you are able to connect with those consumers in the community, it ultimately drives a lot of referral business.”

This customer-first philosophy has been particularly critical in South Carolina’s coastal regions, where wind and flood coverage can be challenging to secure. Payne emphasized that client trust and market expertise allow the agency to adapt quickly to disruption. “When you have the ability to go out to the market to find the products that match what the consumers need, that is very beneficial not only to us, but to the consumers as well,” he said.

Payne also credited the agency’s long-standing team culture and strong carrier relationships as major contributors to success. “Staying in touch with my teammates is one of my top priorities. Having that continuity amongst our team has really become a great piece of the overall picture,” he said.

The agency is also one of South Carolina’s largest writers of personal lines, homeowners’, and excess and surplus coverage, balancing innovation with the unique risks of coastal properties. Payne pointed to the importance of understanding each carrier’s appetite for risk. “Knowing what markets to approach and ultimately fulfilling what those customers’ needs are is a huge part that helps our day-to-day operation run,” he said.
