Rokstone Agriculture has secured $1 million in capacity from Professional Solutions Insurance Company to launch equine mortality insurance across 19 US states, the company announced Monday.

The specialist agriculture and livestock managing general underwriter, part of international speciality insurance MGA Rokstone, will offer the new product line through PSIC, which carries an “A” rating from A.M. Best, according to a news release.

Since launching in 2021, Rokstone Agriculture has provided livestock coverage under five separate product lines. The equine mortality offering represents the company’s expansion into the US horse insurance market.

Alexandra Choumitsky will lead the new division as equine underwriting manager, a recent promotion for the eight-year veteran of equine and livestock underwriting. Choumitsky specializes in sport horses and thoroughbreds, according to the company.

The equine mortality product provides standard death coverage along with optional major medical coverage. Reimbursements range from $7,500 to $15,000, with limits extending to $17,500 for higher-valued sport horses.

Rokstone Agriculture will process applications through its digital quote and bind platform, allowing brokers to access faster turnaround times and customized solutions. The company’s in-house third-party administrator, Verus Claims Management LLC, will handle all equine claims.

Nicole Pidcoe leads Verus Claims Management, bringing 15 years of insurance experience and a background in Saddlebreds. The claims service offers 24-hour response and electronic check settlement capabilities, with 25 years of combined team experience.

“I’m delighted to further expand our brand by adding the equine portfolio and help owners protect the lives of their animals and financial investments,” said Eric Conklin, CEO of Rokstone Agriculture. “We have solutions for a wide variety of horse breeds and uses, as well as the underwriting expertise and strong carrier relationships required to cover niche risks and exposures.”

The new coverage is available in Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin.

Rokstone underwrites $1.1 billion in gross written premium across specialty lines including property, marine, aviation, agriculture, construction, and professional indemnity coverage.
