Pretium, an investment firm with approximately $60 billion in assets under management, has announced the expansion of its business with a focus on partnerships with insurance companies and the provision of customized private credit assets.
The firm has named Paul Brown as managing director to co-lead its newly established Insurance Solutions Group, working alongside managing director Kevin Relihan.
Brown brings experience in insurance, investment management, and capital markets to Pretium. He previously served as managing director and co-head of corporate development at Ares Insurance Solutions.
Before that, he was executive vice president, capital and strategy, and chief investment officer at Aspida Financial. Brown has also held senior investment banking roles at JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, and Credit Suisse First Boston, and began his career as an attorney at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and corporate law.
Brown holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Yale University and a juris doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Brown and Relihan will be responsible for growing Pretium’s insurance partnerships and expanding its offerings to insurance clients. The firm’s co-president, Jonathan Pruzan, said, “Given Pretium’s expertise in operating and managing assets across the residential real estate ecosystem, we are in a position to provide high-quality assets to insurance companies for their balance sheets.”
Pruzan also said that the new group will allow Pretium to deepen its relationships with insurance companies and broaden its insurance-focused business.
Pretium’s business activities span a broad real estate platform. In early 2024, Pretium agreed to acquire BH Management Services, a property management company with a presence in multifamily, student, and single-family housing across 31 states. The transaction brought more than 210,000 homes under management and increased the firm’s reach to approximately 700,000 residents and homeowners annually.
Pretium employs more than 7,200 people across 50 offices worldwide, including locations in New York, Miami, London, Seoul, and Sydney.
