NYCM Insurance held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of its relocated Sherburne branch at 14 Classic Street recently. Employees, community members and local officials attended the event.

The branch had operated at 16 Chapel Street in Sherburne for 35 years before the move.

NYCM president and CEO Cheryl Robinson was joined by Sherburne Mayor William Acee and Jordan Fleming, representing New York State Assemblyman Joseph Angelino, for the ceremony on October 14. Employees toured the new facility and listened to remarks about the company’s history and continued presence in the village.

Robinson said the new space is intended to serve as a home for the Sherburne team and was designed with their needs in mind. She added that it provides a modern and collaborative environment that supports the company’s direction and teamwork.

NYCM’s presence in Sherburne dates back to February 1990, when it opened its Chapel Street branch. At that time, the company launched the Assigned Risk Underwriting Department with 14 trained staff and 35 new hires. By the end of that year, 80 employees were part of the Sherburne team.

The relocation to Classic Street completes NYCM’s modernization initiative, which began in 2020. The program focused on expanding and improving the company’s four locations and increasing collaboration among departments.

NYCM employs about 1,000 people across four offices, including more than 100 in Sherburne. Its other locations are in Edmeston, Canajoharie, and Orchard Park. The company, which has operated for more than 125 years, continues to invest in community development and support throughout New York State.

Last year, the company celebrated its 125th anniversary. It also inaugurated the then newly renovated historical hallway at its headquarters. The renovation project, which began four years ago, was part of a wider effort to expand and modernize NYCM's four office locations to support greater collaboration among teams.

NYCM was named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York State in 2025.
