The National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) will be participating in this year’s Insurance Careers Movement (ICM) to highlight career opportunities within the insurance industry.

The move is part of the celebration for the ninth annual Insurance Careers Month this February.

The ICM is a global network of more than 1,000 insurance carriers, agents, trade associations and industry partners focused on engaging the next generation for careers in insurance.

Assemblywoman Pam Hunter, who is president of NCOIL, said that there is more to an insurance career than meets the eye. “It’s an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives by helping them prepare for the unexpected and best secure their financial future,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rep. Carl Anderson, who is chair of the NCOIL Workers’ Compensation Insurance committee, said that the insurance industry provided him with a “fulfilling career” when he was an insurance agent. “I encourage younger generations to take advantage of the opportunities the industry has to offer” he added.

Meanwhile, NCOIL chief executive officer Will Melofchik encouraged those that are just starting in their careers to consider working in the insurance industry due to “tremendous growth opportunities and stability.”

“The insurance industry continues to provide a wide range of meaningful careers for people of all different skillsets and experience levels,” Melofchik added. Melofchik took on the role of NCOIL CEO upon the retirement of Tom Considine.
