Mountain Life Insurance Company has received regulatory approval to begin operations in Maryland, marking its entry into the 15th US state where it offers insurance products.

The state’s insurance market ranks among the top 20 nationally in total direct written premium volume, with over $50 billion in combined life, health, property and casualty premiums. Under Maryland law, insurers must comply with detailed filing, licensing and consumer protection requirements, including biennial agent license renewals and mandatory continuing education. The MIA also enforces policy standards and investigates consumer complaints, adding another layer of regulatory oversight for new entrants like Mountain Life.
The expansion into Maryland follows the company’s recent approval to begin operations in Oklahoma, which brought its licensed footprint to 14 states. In that market, Mountain Life has also started preparations to appoint agents and offer its life and annuity products.
