The MJ Companies has named M. Craig Reavis (pictured above) as vice president for business and community development as part of its expansion into the Tennessee market.
Reavis will be based at the company’s new office in Nashville Yards and will focus on building business relationships and community engagement in the region.
Reavis joins the firm with more than 15 years of experience in insurance, employee benefits, and risk management, having held positions on both the brokerage and carrier sides of the industry. Most recently, he served as regional vice president at Atlantic American Corporation.
He will work alongside Austin Madison, market president of Tennessee, who is leading MJ’s operations in Nashville.
“Craig has worked for brokerages and for insurance carriers, giving him invaluable practical experience on both sides of the benefits management industry,” said Madison. “He is well known and highly respected in Nashville and across our industry.”
The appointment comes as part of MJ’s broader entry into Tennessee. The company announced its expansion into the state in May 2025, citing Nashville’s growth and strategic potential. The new office marks MJ’s fourth US location, joining existing offices in Indianapolis, Phoenix, and Denver.

The decision to enter the Nashville market followed an extended evaluation period. According to CEO Michael H. Bill, the company prioritized alignment with its internal culture and values when selecting leadership for the new office. “Austin is highly respected throughout the Nashville region and known across our industry as a leader and a genuine professional who is committed to exceptional client service,” said Bill.
Under Madison’s leadership, MJ plans to expand staffing in Nashville to meet client demand across the region. The company’s growth strategy is supported by its proprietary analytics platform, APERTURE, which integrates real-time data to support insurance and benefits decision-making.
