Trident Reciprocal Exchange has appointed Ryan Hodges as its new chief executive officer, according to a report from AM Best.

With more than 25 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, Hodges brings extensive expertise in underwriting and risk management. Throughout his career, he has held various senior leadership roles, helping organizations navigate market cycles and improve operational performance.

Hodges’ appointment comes amid a broader trend of private insurers expanding their presence in Florida’s homeowners insurance market.

In December, the Florida Office of Insurance regulation approved requests from three insurers, including Trident, to assume 160,440 multi-peril homeowner policies from Citizens Property Insurance Corp. This move is part of the ongoing efforts to reduce the state-backed insurer’s exposure and shift policies back to private carriers.

In a separate development, MSIG USA, a member of Tokyo-based MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc., has appointed Tony Beirne as chief actuary and Dale James as chief risk officer.

Beirne, who brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial insurance and Insurtech, will oversee MSIG USA’s actuarial function. His role will include managing reserving, pricing strategy, capital modelling and portfolio analytics. Beirne joins the company from Cover Whale, where he also served as chief actuary.

Meanwhile, James has more than two decades of experience in risk and capital management. In his new role, he will focus on enterprise risk management, governance, compliance and business continuity planning. James’ prior experience includes serving as vice president and chief risk officer at Alleghany Corp.

These appointments come after MSIG USA’s February hiring of Jennifer Marino as chief marketing officer.
