A string of senior appointments has been announced across the US insurance industry.
Markel Insurance, the insurance operations of Markel Group Inc., has appointed Alison Sweeney and Ije Ejim to senior roles within its fine art & specie business. The hires are part of efforts to drive profitable growth and strengthen client and broker relationships across the US.
Sweeney (pictured above, left) takes on the role of underwriting specialist, fine art & specie, based in New York, where she will focus on underwriting new business and renewals. She brings 19 years of experience in evaluating and insuring public and private collections and was previously a founding member of Distinguished Fine Art and Collectibles.

The Hanover Insurance Group has named Toni E. Mitchell (pictured immediately above) as president of its technology and life sciences business. Mitchell will lead the strategic expansion of the unit and develop bespoke solutions for clients operating in complex and fast-evolving sectors.
Previously regional executive for the Pacific Region, Mitchell has held multiple leadership roles at The Hanover since joining in 2010. She will focus on underwriting excellence and strengthening broker and agent partnerships.

Group 1001 Insurance has promoted Linda Wang (pictured immediately above) to president of its life & annuity business unit. Wang, who also continues in her role as chief financial officer, will now oversee strategic execution across business operations, in addition to leading financial strategy.
As part of her expanded role, she assumes oversight of information technology, information security, and internal audit. Wang joined Group 1001 more than six years ago and previously served as CEO and chief actuary at Old Mutual’s Bermuda operations.

ICW Group Insurance Companies has promoted Iva Yuan (pictured immediately above) to chief actuary, head of reserving, pricing and product.
Yuan will lead the insurer’s actuarial strategy and support the development of new multi-line product offerings, while also serving as the appointed actuary.
She brings more than two decades of experience in property and casualty insurance and joined ICW Group in 2020. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of product and actuarial.
