Palomba will report to Stuart Adam, executive vice president and head of natural resources, and brings 29 years of industry experience. She most recently served as managing director and US power & renewables practice leader at Aon.
The announcement comes shortly after Mike Parrish joined as CEO of Howden US, where he will lead the company’s US retail broking business. Howden said these appointments are part of its strategy to expand its presence in the US insurance market.
Adam said the company’s goal in building the US Natural Resources team is to “attract, retain and develop the best talent in the industry in order to provide an unparalleled client service model for the energy industry.” He described Palomba as “top talent in our industry with a proven track record of success and a client-focused perspective.”
Paul Redgate, chair of specialty and chair of international growth markets at Howden, said the US Natural Resources team, led by Adam, has quickly become one of the most experienced and creative in the US market.
Redgate also said the company is “creating a highly sought-after alternative by attracting exceptional talent with owners’ mindsets and the ability to provide extraordinary results and service for clients.”
In a related move to strengthen its US specialty insurance market presence, Howden US recently appointed Mark Peterson as head of its construction, infrastructure, and surety practice.
Peterson, who has more than 30 years of legal and insurance experience, will work closely with Parrish and Naresh Dade, global head of construction, to develop a comprehensive offering for clients in the sector.
Howden has also agreed to acquire Gravitas Insurance Agency LLC, a Los Angeles-based brokerage specializing in contingency insurance for music, sport, and live events. The deal, which is subject to closing conditions, is part of Howden’s broader US expansion strategy and extends its capabilities in the entertainment sector.
