Howden has appointed Jonny Gray (pictured above) as a senior advisor to its sport and entertainment practice, expanding the group's expertise in the global sport and entertainment insurance sector with a focus on the US market.
Gray, who will be based in London, brings extensive experience in sport risk management. He will continue his role as senior advisor to Ankura Sports Advisory Group, which he helped establish and co-led for several years.
Gray also serves as an international sports disputes arbitrator for Sport Resolutions and is an independent non-executive director with the International Table Tennis Federation. In 2025, he was named independent bid monitor for the UK’s bid to host the 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Gray previously founded and served as CEO of the International Tennis Integrity Agency, the global regulator for professional tennis. Before that, he was global head of sport at Control Risks, a UK consultancy, where he spent 11 years based in the US.
His experience includes work on multiple FIFA and International Olympic Committee events worldwide and advising the NFL ahead of its first “London Series.”

Howden has also expanded its international presence with the launch of Howden Re operations in Iberia. The company appointed David Santos as managing director and Antonio Pombo as director, both based in Madrid, to establish its reinsurance proposition in the Spanish, Portuguese, and Andorran markets.
In Asia, Howden Re has appointed Jonathan Yang as director for Asia Pacific facultative reinsurance, expanding its team in Singapore. Yang brings more than 22 years of experience in the Asia property and casualty insurance market.
Additionally, Candy Wong was named head of treaty at Howden Re Hong Kong. Wong, who has more than 40 years of reinsurance experience, will oversee the treaty reinsurance proposition and provide market insight for clients in Hong Kong.
