Assurex Global has expanded its US partner network with the addition of Nebraska-based UNICO Group, bringing the independent agency into its organization of brokerages across six continents.

The commercial insurance, risk management, and employee benefits brokerage group said UNICO officially became a partner firm on March 5, 2026. The move adds a firm headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska, that operates across the United States and employs 140 professionals.

UNICO traces its roots to 1988, when Reynolds-Simmons-Nelson Insurance and Chambers Dobson Financial Services merged. Since then, the company has grown into the largest privately owned insurance agency in Nebraska and one of the region’s larger firms, with business lines serving industries such as auto dealers, banking and financial services, contractors, and technology, media, and telecommunications.

According to Assurex Global, firms selected for its network go through a review process focused on local market knowledge, operating performance, and alignment with the group’s broader business priorities. The organization said UNICO’s election is part of its continuing effort to build out its presence in the US and overseas.

“UNICO’s exceptional leadership, commitment to their clients, and forward-thinking strategies in risk management make them a valuable addition to our partnership,” said Dean Hildebrandt, president and CEO of Assurex Global.

“We are excited to collaborate with their team and support their ongoing growth as we collectively provide best-in-class resources and expertise to clients across the world.”

Through the partnership, UNICO will gain access to Assurex Global’s network of more than 100 independent brokers. Assurex Global said that network spans six continents and is designed to support collaboration among member firms.

UNICO said the affiliation will help expand its reach while allowing it to continue operating as an independent business. Its executive team includes CEO Ric Stoakes, President Shane Ideus, CFO Neal Lyons, and COO Angie Hoffschneider.

“This partnership represents a tremendous opportunity to elevate our capabilities, broaden our global connections, and deliver even greater value to our clients,” UNICO CEO Ric Stoakes said.

“We are thrilled to join this industry-leading partnership and are eager to work alongside our fellow Partner Firms to foster innovation and achieve shared success.”
