Atkinson had been with Aspen for 14 years, serving in various leadership roles that supported the company’s distribution and marketing operations. He was a member of Aspen’s Group Executive team and chaired the Innovation Working Group, which focused on collaborative approaches across the business. He also served as a director of Blue Marble Microinsurance, an initiative aimed at developing insurance solutions for underserved markets.
“Jonny was not only a talented executive but a dear and valued friend to many across Aspen and beyond,” said Mark Cloutier, Aspen’s executive chairman and group chief executive officer. “We are deeply grateful for his leadership and the lasting contributions he made.”
Aspen credited Atkinson for his role in guiding the company’s global marketing and distribution strategy, as well as in maintaining its relationships with broking partners. His position placed him at the center of Aspen’s efforts to align underwriting objectives with intermediary engagement across its international markets.
Atkinson’s work in distribution strategy, innovation, and insurance initiatives reflected his involvement in multiple aspects of Aspen’s business operations. Through his participation in Blue Marble Microinsurance, he was also part of wider industry efforts to make insurance solutions accessible to emerging economies.
“Our thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time,” Cloutier added.
