Arch Insurance’s Accident & Health business unit has introduced a new Individual Supplemental Health insurance product suite, targeting growing demand in the US for additional coverage options that address rising out-of-pocket healthcare costs.

The launch adds to Arch’s broader Accident & Health portfolio and aims to strengthen its footprint in the fast-growing supplemental health insurance market.

The suite includes four core coverages: accident medical expense, hospital indemnity, critical illness and accidental death. These products are designed to help individuals manage costs not typically covered by major medical insurance, such as deductibles, co-insurance and out-of-network expenses, by providing a fixed benefit payout upon qualifying events.

The offering is available to a wide range of consumers, including full-time employees, independent contractors, gig workers, and association members. Coverage is fully portable and available with no medical underwriting, making it accessible to individuals regardless of employment status or health history. This portability is especially relevant in the gig economy, where workers often lack access to traditional employer-sponsored benefits.

“By offering access through our APEX digital platform or seamless API integration, we’re making it easier than ever for our distribution partners to deliver these products efficiently and effectively to their clients,” said Jim Villa, senior vice president, Arch Accident & Health.

The supplemental health market in the US has seen steady growth, driven by high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) and increasing cost-sharing structures in employer-sponsored benefits.

According to LIMRA, the market for worksite and individual supplemental health products has expanded in recent years, as individuals seek greater financial protection from medical events. The rise in remote and freelance work has also created new demand for portable, non-employer-tied benefits.

Arch’s product suite is structured for flexibility across multiple distribution channels. It can be offered directly to consumers, through employer groups, via associations or through digital affinity platforms. Partners can generate quotes and complete enrollments in minutes using Arch’s APEX digital platform or integrate the offerings into their own systems via API.

In addition to financial protection, the products are designed to streamline the user experience for partners and policyholders, reflecting broader industry trends toward digitization and simplification of health-related insurance products.

Arch said its entry into the individual supplemental health space aligns with a wider industry shift toward modular, customizable insurance solutions that support underserved segments of the workforce.
