Amwins Special Risk Underwriters (SRU) has announced the introduction of HabVantage™, an exclusive all-risk property program designed for the habitation market. This new program is designed to address the evolving needs within the shifting landscape of property insurance.
Established in 2008, Amwins SRU operates as an in-house managing general agent for Amwins. According to a news release, HabVantage™ aims to provide Amwins brokers with access to underwriting expertise and capacity for risks that have become more challenging to secure coverage for.
The program offers comprehensive all-risk property coverage, which includes protection against flood and earthquake damage. The insurance carriers backing this program are rated “A-” or higher.
“SRU’s proven track record of underwriting excellence continues to open doors and bring more solutions to market,” said Mark Bernacki, chief underwriting officer at Amwins. “HabVantage brings both stability and creativity, giving Amwins brokers a strategic advantage when working to place habitational risks for their clients.”
The program is available across all 50 states and in Washington D.C. It is structured to accommodate an array of habitational risks, ranging from single-location properties to extensive portfolios. SRU’s internal team of underwriters will assess each submission, emphasizing quality, adaptability, and promptness.
The announcement comes as the property insurance market enters an active and competitive phase in 2025, driven by additional capacity from domestic insurers, managing general underwriters, and the London market. These developments have led to improved conditions for insureds, including a cautious relaxation of terms and increased capacity.
