Alera Group, a national insurance and financial services firm, has expanded its presence in the Kansas City market with the addition of advisor Adam Bettis and his colleague Trish Connelly.

The Overland Park-based practice officially joined Alera Group on July 1, 2025.

Bettis, who joins as a senior partner with Alera Group Wealth Services, brings extensive experience in wealth manaagement and retirement plan consulting. His practice has built a strong reputation in the Kansas City metropolitan area, serving a range of individual and business clients.

The move is part of Alera Group's strategy to strengthen its footprint in key regional markets. Executives said Kansas City represents a significant opportunity for growth, given its concentration of mid-sized businesses and increasing demand for comprehensive employee benefits and financial advisory services.

According to Jeff Silverman, chief growth officer for financial services at Alera Group, Bettis exemplifies the kind of advisor the firm is looking to partner with, combining a strong client-first approach with expertise in wealth management and retirement planning.

Bettis noted that joining Alera Group will give his practice access to enhanced resources and capabilities. He said the platform provides institutional-level investment solutions, advanced technology and a wider range of services, while still allowing his team to maintain the personalized approach that clients expect.

Alera Group explained that the addition reflects its broader growth strategy, which centers on affiliating with advisors who can serve both wealth management and retirement plan clients. Wealth Platform leader Mike Moss described Bettis’s practice as an example of the type of advisor partnerships the firm intends to continue pursuing.

The expansion follows a series of acquisitions and affiliations that have helped Alera Group build one of the largest privately held insurance and financial services organizations in the US.

Since its founding in 2017, the firm has developed practices in employee benefits, property and casualty insurance, retirement services, and wealth management, giving it a broad platform to serve clients nationwide.
