Midas, the trading name of MDSCO Limited and part of URIS Group, has announced it is bringing its Midas Jewel household insurance product to Northern Ireland.
The expansion follows demand from brokers in the region seeking access to the product. Midas said the move aligns with its strategy to support growth across key UK markets.
Midas Jewel is a buildings and contents product designed to cover both standard and non-standard household risks. The product is underwritten by Zurich and supported by Midas's claims infrastructure, which is based in Belfast.
The Northern Ireland launch follows URIS Group's renewal and expansion of its partnership with Zurich in late 2025. That five-year arrangement provides long-term capacity for the Midas portfolio, which specialises in non-standard household cover for risks such as properties of non-standard construction, unoccupied homes, and let properties.
The product expansion also comes amid broader strategic moves by URIS Group. In late 2025, the company acquired Lutine Assurance Services from Ardonagh Group to strengthen its position in the UK protection market. Coles described the acquisition as adding "another quality MGA operation, more diversification, and more bandwidth to grow."
Brokers in Northern Ireland can access Midas Jewel with immediate effect. Existing agency partners will have the facility activated automatically from launch.
Michael McKee (pictured above), operations and claims director at MDSCO, said the company had observed increased interest from the Northern Ireland broker market.
"We've seen growing demand from brokers in Northern Ireland who wanted access to Midas Jewel and we're delighted to open the product to the market," McKee said.
McKee added that the company has an established understanding of the Northern Ireland market and intends to provide local brokers with regional expertise. Midas has maintained a presence in Belfast, where it continues to operate back-office, accounting, and claims functions.
