Bartlett James Risk Solutions has acquired IPC Limited, bringing the Staffordshire-based firms together and transferring IPC’s client base into the Bartlett James business.
The transaction sees IPC’s clients move across to Bartlett James, with both firms stating that service continuity will be maintained following the deal.
Founded in 2018 and based in Cannock, Bartlett James Risk Solutions provides insurance advice to businesses and individuals across sectors including construction, manufacturing, logistics, retail and professional services. IPC Limited, which has operated within the same regional market for a number of years, developed its client base under the leadership of Ian Potter.
The acquisition was completed with the support of Momentum Broker Solutions, which operates an appointed representative model for independent brokers. Both Bartlett James and IPC have been part of the Momentum network, which provides compliance, operational and funding support to member firms.
Momentum worked with both parties on the transaction, with a focus on ensuring a smooth transition for clients as they move onto the Bartlett James platform.
Following completion, IPC’s business will be integrated into Bartlett James, while continuing to serve clients from within the same regional market.
The deal reflects ongoing consolidation across the UK broking sector, including at the regional and independent end of the market. While much of the recent activity has involved larger consolidators, smaller brokers have also been pursuing acquisitions as part of succession planning and growth strategies.
Networks such as Momentum Broker Solutions play a role in facilitating these transactions, particularly where firms are looking to maintain independence while accessing additional infrastructure and regulatory support.
For Bartlett James, the acquisition adds scale to its existing operations and expands its client base within Staffordshire and the wider Midlands. The combined business continues to focus on providing insurance advice to local clients across a range of commercial sectors.
The transaction also provides a route for IPC’s clients to continue receiving insurance services within a similar advisory model, following the integration into Bartlett James.
As consolidation continues across the sector, transactions of this size highlight how smaller, locally focused brokers are using acquisitions to build scale while remaining embedded in their regional markets.
