Zurich UK has named Georgina Fleet (pictured) as its new head of UK compliance, a role that will also see her join the company's UK executive committee.

She succeeds Hilary Bates, who moves to Cover-More, Zurich’s specialist travel insurance arm, as global operations and transformation leader.

Fleet has been with Zurich since 2020, when she joined as head of legal transactions. Before that, she led the legal team at Legal & General and previously worked as a senior associate at law firm Pinsent Masons.

Zurich UK CEO Drazen Jaksic said the appointment reflects Zurich’s ongoing commitment to integrity, compliance, and governance. He noted that Fleet’s leadership and experience will be key in strengthening the company’s culture of trust and accountability while ensuring it continues to meet the expectations of customers, regulators, and communities.

Fleet said she aims to build on the compliance team’s strong foundation by promoting a culture that goes beyond regulation to focus on trust and responsible decision-making. She emphasised that compliance plays a vital role in protecting Zurich’s reputation and ensuring the company does the right thing for customers, colleagues, and communities.

Zurich recently strengthened global technology leadership

Fleet’s appointment follows Zurich’s recent move to bolster its global technology and digital leadership. The insurer recently named Terry Powell as group chief technology officer and Cristina Ghetti as group head of digital employee experience.

Powell, who joins from ANZ Bank, has extensive experience leading IT services transformation and cloud adoption. He previously spearheaded global IT centralisation and digital initiatives at Domino’s Pizza and served as general manager for insurance technology at Suncorp Group, where he focused on simplifying core insurance systems.

Ghetti, formerly at Nestlé, led the company’s largest AI-tool rollout and integrated GPT-based tools for internal operations. She also managed a multi-year digital roadmap and IT integration following a merger at Coca-Cola European Partners. In her new role, she will oversee AI upskilling programs and support the adoption of AI tools to boost productivity across Zurich’s operations.
