Waggel names first CMO

UK pet insurance brand Waggel has appointed King as its first chief marketing officer as the business continues to scale under chief executive Henri Dowling.

King joins from Capital One UK, where she served as UK marketing director. Before that, she held senior roles at high-growth fintech companies in Australia, including OnDeck and Athena Home Loans. She began her career on Capital One’s graduate scheme and holds a first-class degree in Business Management from the University of Nottingham.

“I’m so thrilled to welcome Katie to the Waggel team,” said Dowling. “This is an important step forward for us and she brings the ideal mix of industry expertise, a growth mindset, and a clear understanding of the ambitious goals we have for the years ahead.”

Qlaims names head of partnerships

Specialist managing general agent Qlaims Limited has appointed Johnson as head of partnerships, a newly created role designed to deepen the company’s relationships with brokers and MGAs.

Johnson joins after 14 years at Arc Legal Assistance, where he held a senior position within the commercial division. He will report directly to Qlaims chief executive Liz Latter.

Latter said she had long observed Johnson’s professional development. “I’ve known Martin professionally for many years and have seen him grow into an impressive and experienced leader,” she said. “I’m delighted he has chosen to join us as we continue our growth, offering more clients the support they need with claims.”

Johnson said he was looking ahead to building strong distribution ties. “I look forward to working with the Qlaims team and building great relationships with our distribution partners over the coming years,” he said. He added that improving the claims process remained a priority. “A drive for greater customer awareness and improved claims outcomes is vital,” he said.

Arch Insurance names senior underwriter

Arch Insurance UK Regional Division has appointed Tinworth as senior property and casualty underwriter, effective immediately, with a focus on new business development across the north of England.

Tinworth, who is based in Leeds, joins from DUAL, where he was most recently a senior underwriter. Prior to that, he served as a development underwriter at Hiscox. He brings more than 10 years of UK insurance market experience to the role and will report to Leeds branch manager Martin Cleary.

Cleary welcomed the appointment, noting Tinworth’s technical background. “We are delighted to welcome Henry to our expanding Leeds team,” he said. “His wealth of trading and technical expertise, combined with his service-led approach, will be invaluable as we deepen our broker partnerships, deliver tailored solutions for complex client risks, and strengthen our presence across the region.”

Markel International strengthens energy offering

Markel International has appointed Roughan as senior underwriter – energy, effective immediately, based in London.

In her new role, Roughan will underwrite Markel’s Upstream & Midstream Energy portfolio, enhancing underwriting discipline while strengthening relationships with brokers and clients. She will also help streamline submission workflows and improve responsiveness across the Energy team, giving brokers and insureds quicker, more informed guidance on appetite and coverage.

The company noted that Roughan brings more than 20 years of experience across international energy programmes, offshore construction, and upstream and midstream insurance. Most recently, she served as senior broker and account executive at Price Forbes and has held senior roles at K.M. Dastur Limited, Lockton Companies International, and Wellington Underwriting/Catlin UK.

“Camilla’s extensive international broking and underwriting background, combined with her deep understanding of complex energy programmes, make her exceptionally well-placed to support our clients as they navigate this shifting landscape,” said Tim Foister, head of Upstream Energy at Markel International.
