The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has welcomed Travelers Europe as its newest partner, strengthening ties between one of the world’s largest property and casualty insurers and the UK broker community.
Travelers Europe, part of The Travelers Companies, provides a wide range of commercial insurance solutions across the UK and Ireland. Headquartered in London, the insurer combines local underwriting expertise with global financial strength to help businesses manage complex risks. The partnership will enable Travelers to work more closely with brokers and BIBA members, particularly as insurance distribution and customer needs continue to evolve.
A valuable addition
BIBA chief executive Graeme Trudgill (pictured) said Travelers’ specialist expertise will be a valuable addition to the association’s network and will support the development of new broker relationships. He noted that Travelers’ long-standing collaboration with brokers aligns with BIBA’s goal of fostering stronger partnerships and advancing professional standards across the market.
Ben Gilbert, head of distribution operations and strategy at Travelers, said the partnership reinforces Travelers’ commitment to the broker community and reflects its focus on working with regional brokers to meet the evolving needs of UK businesses. The collaboration, he added, provides a platform to exchange insights and drive better outcomes for customers.
The Travelers partnership follows a series of significant BIBA collaborations in 2024 and 2025.
Markel (May 2025): BIBA announced Markel as an official partner, formalising a longstanding relationship. Markel supports BIBA members with a facility that includes a 24/7 business and legal helpline, tax and VAT support, and access to its online Business Hub.
Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) (September 2024): BIBA and the MGAA became affiliate organisations, marking the first time a UK-based insurance body has gained affiliate status with BIBA. This partnership aims to deepen collaboration on shared market challenges, capacity issues, and regulatory advocacy. MGAA CEO Mike Keating and BIBA’s Graeme Trudgill both emphasised the benefits of joint efforts for brokers and MGAs, with the MGAA representing 233 full members and BIBA spanning around 1,800 regulated firms.
Griffiths & Armour (June 2024): BIBA extended its professional indemnity (PI) accredited broker agreement with Griffiths & Armour for another three years. Griffiths & Armour, a BIBA accredited provider since 2013, continues to offer members exclusive PI schemes, expert claims support, and risk management resources. Both Griffiths & Armour and BIBA highlighted the importance of this partnership in helping brokers navigate PI challenges, particularly in a hard market.
These recent partnerships highlight BIBA’s ongoing efforts to broaden the resources and support available to its members, reflecting the evolving needs and challenges facing insurance brokers in the UK market.
