Yorkshire-headquartered insurance broking group TL Dallas has opened an office in Harrogate as it continues to expand across northern England, with a particular focus on high-net-worth (HNW) clients in one of the region's most affluent towns.

The firm will operate from 36 Victoria Avenue, located in the centre of Harrogate's professional and commercial district. The office will serve both private and business clients in the town and surrounding areas.

Caroline Pullich, group head of private clients, will lead the HNW client offering from the new base. Corporate account executive James Bright will focus on commercial clients across the region.

Harrogate is widely regarded as the most expensive place to live in northern England, with property prices well above the regional average. Figures from Rightmove show the average property price in Harrogate at £402,476 over the past year, compared with a North Yorkshire average of £292,811. Detached homes in the town fetch an average of £666,603.

That wealth profile underpins the decision to lead with an HNW offering. Research from GlobalData valued the UK HNW home insurance market at £861 million in 2025, having grown at a compound annual growth rate of 9.6% from 2021.

The number of HNW individuals in the UK is projected to rise at a rate of 2.8% annually through to 2029.

The market has also been reshaped by insurer exits. Howden Insurance noted that carriers including Home & Legacy, Aurum, RSA, and Horizon pulled back from the segment in 2024, creating gaps that independent brokers are now positioned to fill.

Pullich said the expansion reflects growing demand from existing clients and the company's commitment to strengthening its North Yorkshire presence.

"Harrogate has a vibrant professional and business community, and we have been working with clients here for decades," she said. "Establishing a dedicated presence at 36 Victoria Avenue allows us to build on those relationships, whilst also meeting new clients locally."

Bright said Harrogate's varied economy made it a fitting location for the firm's next phase. "Having a base in the town gives us an excellent platform to support both established organisations and growing companies with their insurance and risk management needs," he said.

Continued growth

TL Dallas already works with several firms in the area, including healthcare provider Vida Healthcare and Harrogate-based Haddletons Solicitors. To mark the opening, the firm has become a corporate patron of the Harrogate International Festival, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

The Harrogate office is the latest in a series of regional moves over the past five years. TL Dallas acquired a 40-strong team across Inverness, Elgin, and Orkney, now operating as Nord Dallas and Caledonia Dallas, and launched specialist offices in Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire under separate brands.

The firm also opened a commercial and agricultural office in Cockermouth, Cumbria.

The group, which was founded in 1919 and employs more than 200 people, reported turnover of £15.24 million in 2024, a 17% rise on the prior year. That followed growth of 14.2% in 2023, when turnover reached £13.01 million.
