Pro MGA Global Solutions, part of Pro Global, has launched Orb Specialty, a new independent managing general underwriter (MGU) designed to link insurers with high-potential managing general agents (MGAs) in its incubation ecosystem.

The new platform will act as a central hub for distributing capacity to incubated MGAs while giving carriers a more efficient, single-point route into the delegated authority market. Orb Specialty will initially operate in the UK as an appointed representative of Pro MGA Solutions, backed by Pro Group’s regulatory, compliance, and operational framework.

According to Pro MGA, Orb Specialty has three guiding principles, namely, strategic connection, operational excellence and sustainability. The launch comes at a time of heightened interest in MGAs and their role in expanding insurers' reach into niche and specialist markets. 

Carriers are increasingly looking for efficient ways to deploy capacity while maintaining oversight of delegated arrangements. MGAs, meanwhile, continue to face challenges in securing long-term capacity commitments, especially against a backdrop of regulatory scrutiny and shifting market conditions.

Orb Specialty's centralised model is designed to address those challenges by creating a streamlined, governance-led platform that can scale across jurisdictions. Pro MGA Global Solutions has also signalled ambitions to extend Orb beyond the UK. 

The development adds to a wave of new platforms launched in recent years to meet the demand for MGA incubation and capacity solutions. Davies, for example, has been growing its MGA incubation capabilities through Davies Broking Europe, while Asta and Beat Capital Partners have both developed models that combine incubation, operational support, and access to capacity. 

Industry observers noted that such models could reshape capacity distribution in the MGA sector, which has seen rapid growth and competition. By offering insurers a consolidated pathway and MGAs a more stable framework for long-term relationships, Orb Specialty is positioning itself as a bridge between two sides of a market still evolving at speed.
