Several insurance and broking organisations have confirmed senior leadership appointments this week, reflecting ongoing strategic developments in claims management, delegated underwriting, and risk governance.
Willis, part of WTW, has appointed Adrian Cousins (pictured above, left) to the newly created role of head of London Market claims. Cousins will be tasked with leading the firm's London market claims strategy, including managing relationships with insurers, reinsurers, adjusters, and legal firms operating in the London market.
He will report to Neil Harrison, global head of claims at WTW. Cousins will also continue in his current position as head of claims for FINEX in Great Britain, Western Europe, and international markets, where he reports to Jeremy Wall, global head of FINEX.
In May, Willis also tapped Brian Vosloh as head of cyber for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
Consilium, the specialty re/insurance broker, has appointed George Besant as partner in its delegated risk solutions division. Besant joins from Superscript, where he was head of capacity, and brings 13 years of experience to the role.
His previous positions include roles at Capsicum Re, Arthur J Gallagher, and Pen Underwriting. With experience in placing capacity across a range of classes in markets including the UK, US, South Africa, and Australasia, Besant is expected to support the development of MGA portfolios. His background as a coverholder is intended to inform his approach to servicing client needs.
In his new position, Besant will also support the growth of Consilium’s client base by addressing capacity placement and product development strategies, including for Rokstone Underwriting, an MGA within the Aventum Group.
Earlier this year, Consilium also named appointed Ethan Godlieb as associate partner to lead cyber, tech, and fintech within its professional and executive risks division.
Barnett Waddingham (BW) has named Rob Byett (pictured above, right) as chief risk officer following its recent acquisition by Howden.
Byett, who brings over 20 years of experience in financial services risk and compliance, will lead governance and risk functions within BW and across the global employee benefits practice of Howden Employee Benefits.
Byett’s prior roles include group compliance director at Jelf Group and a senior advisory position at Deloitte. He will also serve on BW’s management board and the health & employee benefits board of Howden.
His appointment follows the retirement of Zoe Smith, who was partner and head of governance at Barnett Waddingham.
