Two big insurance names have announced appointments, with the new hires aimed at bolstering the companies’ cyber and professional indemnity lines.

Liberty Specialty Markets head of cyber and technology errors

Liberty Specialty Markets, part of Liberty Mutual, has appointed Oliver Delvos (pictured above) as head of cyber and technology errors and omissions for Europe, effective December 1. The appointment comes as Delvos' predecessor, Jelmer Andela, transitions to the role of global commercial director for cyber at Liberty Mutual.

Based in Germany, Delvos will report to Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau, president and chief underwriting officer for Europe at LSM. His remit will encompass coordination of the European execution of Liberty's global cyber strategy and development of the company's cyber portfolio across the region.

Delvos brings more than 15 years of experience in the international insurance market, having previously served as managing director at Corvus Insurance, where he oversaw the growth of international and European operations. He holds degrees in law and economics.

The appointment aligns with Liberty's Invest in Europe 2030 strategy, according to the company. It also comes amidst major growth for the insurance group, with Liberty Mutual reporting a sharp increase in Q3 profitability, driven by stronger underwriting results, lower catastrophe losses and robust investment returns.

Folgate Underwriting Agency professional indemnity appointments

Separately, Folgate Underwriting Agency Limited has named two senior professionals to its professional indemnity division.

Mathew Harvey has been appointed head of professional indemnity, whilst Debbie Farman has taken on the role of head of PI renewals. Both will report directly to Ian Russell, chief executive officer.

Harvey and Farman join from Aqueous Underwriting and bring a combined 50 years of expertise to Folgate. The two appointments represent an expansion of the agency's professional indemnity capabilities as it continues to develop its product offerings.

Beyond this expansion, Folgate also recently released contractors combined, an insurance product designed for brokers managing construction sector risks. The policy is individually underwritten and aims to address complex placements by offering a streamlined approach to construction insurance.
