Recent days have seen a number of senior appointments across the UK’s financial and insurance sector.
Arch Insurance International has announced the promotion of David Maher (pictured above) to chief information officer (CIO), effective immediately.
Maher is now responsible for delivering the company’s technology strategy and infrastructure, supporting operational efficiency and scalability across the business.
He joined Arch in 2024 as international head of delivery and previously held senior technology leadership roles at Lloyds Banking Group, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Direct Line Group, WTW and UBS. He brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services technology.
The Financial Conduct Authority has appointed Liam Coleman as interim chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service, effective October 10, 2025. Coleman will lead the Ombudsman’s board on an interim basis following the end of Baroness Zahida Mazoor’s second term in the post.
Coleman brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial and public sectors. His previous roles include chief executive of The Co-operative Bank and senior treasury positions at RBS and Nationwide Building Society. He currently chairs several public sector boards, including Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and London and Quadrant Housing Trust.
Victor Insurance UK has promoted Paula Saxon to UK agriculture product lead. Saxon will be responsible for underwriting strategy, profitability and growth within Victor’s agriculture insurance portfolio in the UK.
She succeeds Sarah Robinson, who relocated to the US earlier this year to support the development of Victor US Specialty’s agriculture programme.
Saxon has more than 14 years of experience in agricultural insurance, MGAs and wholesale broking. Before joining Victor in 2022, she held leadership roles at AIUA/Geo Agriculture, where she oversaw farm underwriting operations.
