Two consultancy firms, BIP and Thoughtworks, have announced senior leadership appointments aimed at strengthening their presence in the UK insurance and financial services sectors. These moves reflect ongoing industry demand for digital transformation and operational resilience amid evolving market conditions.

Lisa Orme takes lead of BIP’s UK insurance practice

BIP has appointed Lisa Orme as partner and head of its insurance practice in the UK.

Orme, who brings over 20 years of industry experience, will be responsible for expanding the practice’s client portfolio, developing new service offerings and adapting BIP’s global capabilities for the UK market.

Her previous roles include senior positions at Capgemini and DXC Technology, where she supported insurers across General Insurance, Life & Wealth and the London Market. Her expertise covers operational resilience, cost optimisation, regulatory compliance and strategic transformation.

BIP described Orme’s appointment as a key step in localising the firm’s global strengths to address the UK insurance market’s specific challenges. The practice’s current focus areas include regulatory risk, data and AI, environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, system modernisation, digital transformation, and building ecosystem partnerships.

Commenting on her appointment, Orme said her focus will be on helping clients move beyond traditional risk transfer approaches to embrace operational resilience, customer trust and sustainable growth, supported by data and artificial intelligence.

Thoughtworks names head of BFSI Europe

Thoughtworks has appointed Rav Hayer as managing director for the UK & Ireland and head of banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) for Europe.

In these roles, Hayer will oversee strategic growth and operations across the UK and Ireland and expand the company’s influence in the European financial services sector.

Hayer joins from Alvarez & Marsal, where he led digital transformation projects for financial services clients across Europe. He has more than 25 years of experience in financial services technology, business strategy and large-scale transformations.

Kaushik Sarkar, regional managing director for Europe, Middle East and India at Thoughtworks, said Hayer’s combination of leadership skills and sector experience will support the company’s growth and strengthen its financial services practice.

In his regional role, Hayer will focus on refining Thoughtworks’ strategy and client relationships while enhancing the firm’s reputation as an employer for technology professionals. As head of BFSI Europe, he will guide financial institutions through digital transformation initiatives involving AI, cloud computing, and data analytics.

Hayer described the timing of his appointment is significant, citing opportunities in the UK and Ireland markets for technology-driven transformation alongside the ongoing digital evolution in European financial services.
