Key appointments have been announced across the insurance industry as firms continue to focus on strengthening leadership, expanding capabilities and responding to evolving market demands.
CFC has appointed Ian McLean (pictured top) as chief technology officer. McLean previously served as chief product and technology officer at Pollinate and held senior technology roles at Covéa, UnderwriteMe, and Validis.
At CFC, he will be responsible for accelerating the firm’s technology roadmap, with a focus on AI-driven underwriting and operational scalability.
Aspen Insurance Holdings has named Mariza Costa as head of investor relations, a newly created position.
Costa brings over 20 years of experience spanning investor relations equity research, rating agency engagement and credit analysis. She joins from Everest Group, where she served as vice president of rating agency relations and corporate finance. Her earlier roles include positions at AM Best, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty and Stifel Nicolaus.
In her new role, Costa will oversee Aspen’s relationships with investors, analysts, and rating agencies. She will also support shareholder communications and provide financial and strategic insights.

Legal and insurance sector advisory firm HF has appointed eight new partners as it continues to grow following CBPE’s investment in 2024. The appointments span restructuring, employment, catastrophic injury, property, cyber consultancy, and credit hire.
The eight new partners include Peter Crewe for restructuring & insolvency. His specialisms include contractual disputes, professional negligence, shareholder disputes, insolvency litigation and corporate recovery transactions. Gareth Matthews for employment specialises in advising businesses and senior individuals on both strategic and day-to-day HR issues.
Meanwhile, Claire Dinoff, who will be a partner for catastrophic and complex injury, has significant experience in catastrophic and large loss claims, having worked for claimants before switching to work with insurers in 2009. Mark Dunn, also a partner for catastrophic and complex injury, specialises in claims arising from serious road traffic accidents.
Steven Smith, property, has more than 15 years of experience in property risks and coverage. Matthew Stanton, who will be a partner for casualty, specialises in personal injury claims, focusing on occupational disease cases.
Craig Kennedy, for cyber consultancy, is a known commercial litigator advising on financial crime, fraud, asset tracing and cyber incident response. And, Melanie Mooney, who will be a partner for credit hire, has a successful track record in handling complex and high value cases, the company said.
The UK P&I Club has announced two senior promotions within its safety & risk management division.
Ansuman Ghosh has been promoted to director of engineering, a newly created role focused on guiding members through maritime technology transitions and decarbonisation. Ghosh joined the Club in 2018 and has held several technical and operational roles.
In addition, Akshat Arora has been promoted to regional loss prevention director for Singapore. Arora will lead loss prevention efforts in the Asia-Pacific region. Both appointments aim to support members in navigating regulatory shifts and emerging risks such as cyber security and sustainable operations.
ISC Group, the global network supporting women in insurance, has appointed Huw Evans, partner and head of Insurance at KPMG UK, as its first male ambassador. Evans will support the organisation’s mission to drive gender balance and inclusive leadership in the insurance and financial services sectors.
Evans has advised clients on regulatory and climate-related risks and previously held industry leadership roles. He said that advancing gender equity requires active support from all levels of leadership, a sentiment echoed by ISC CEO Carmen Powell.
Conrad Wong, chief commercial officer of Nova Insurance Consultants in Hong Kong, has joined the board of directors of Brokerslink, a global broking network.
Wong also serves as managing director of Nova’s Beijing operations. His appointment follows the retirement of long-serving Nova CEO Patrick Chan.
Wong’s international experience is expected to support Brokerslink’s collaboration efforts across its broker network. President and CEO José Manuel Fonseca welcomed Wong’s appointment and acknowledged Chan’s long-standing contributions to the industry, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
