Insurance carriers and brokers across Europe have announced a series of senior appointments and promotions, with changes spanning cyber underwriting, claims operations and delegated authority management.
Arch Insurance has promoted Jose Carlos Jiménez Fernández (pictured, left) as head of cyber for Europe, while Rafael Ortiz Losada (pictured, center) has been appointed as head of cyber for Iberia, both effective immediately.
In his new role, Jiménez Fernández will lead the expansion of AIEU's cyber portfolio across continental Europe, overseeing underwriting strategy, product development and distribution from Madrid. Meanwhile, Ortiz Losada will focus on growing the cyber portfolio across Spain and Portugal, covering primary and excess cyber, technology errors and omissions (E&O) and media E&O.
Both executives joined the company in 2023. Jiménez Fernández previously served as head of cyber for Iberia and held roles at Tokio Marine HCC, while Ortiz Losada joined as senior cyber underwriter from AIG.
Sergio Pierro remains head of cyber for France and will continue to work with the European team on strategy execution.
AXA Insurance UK has appointed Martin Milliner (pictured, right) as chief claims transformation officer, a newly created role.
Milliner joins from Direct Line Group, where he served as managing director of claims, overseeing the Motability partnership, legal services, and auto services oeprations. Prior to that, he spent 18 years as claims director at LV=/Allianz Personal.
UIB has named David Waller as managing director of its marine division.
The move follows nearly three decades of leadership by Andrew Little, who will transition to the role of senior advisor to the president of the marine division.
Meanwhile, Waller will continue as co-head of North America alongside his new responsibilities. The transition is intended to ensure continuity for clients and partners while supporting further development of the marine platform.
At Asta, a Davies-owned third-party managing agent at Lloyd’s, a series of senior promotions has been announced to support growth and expand leadership capacity.
David Hopkins has been promoted to chief underwriting officer, having joined in 2024 with prior roles at Westfield Specialty, Argo Group, AXIS Capital and Antares Managing Agency.
Clare Barley has been appointed managing director after 11 years with the firm, moving from her previous role as chief operating officer. Leslie Edmonds succeeds her as COO and joins the executive team.
Meanwhile, Laura McMaster will take on the newly created role of chief experience officer, focusing on strategic support for syndicate clients and oversight frameworks.
Ben Carter and Phil White have also been promoted to chief actuary roles, each responsible for a portfolio of syndicates, pending regulatory approval.
