Several UK and international insurers and related firms have announced new leadership appointments and internal promotions.

Arch Insurance International creates head of digital role

Arch Insurance International has appointed Ed Short (pictured above, left) as its first head of digital, a newly established role to lead digital underwriting initiatives across the London market, UK regional, Australia, European Union and Bermuda platforms. Short joined Arch in 2023 and previously held the position of vice president, digital partners.

In his new role, Short is responsible for advancing Arch’s digital capabilities in product development, placement processes, and partnerships, aiming to provide brokers with streamlined access to capacity and expertise.

Hugh Sturgess, CEO of Arch Insurance International, described the appointment as part of the firm’s broader investment in digital infrastructure, intended to support evolving broker needs and set Arch apart in a competitive market.

ERS announces senior leadership updates to support growth

ERS, the UK’s specialist motor insurer operating Lloyd’s Syndicate 218, has named Martin Hall as managing director and promoted Scott Tillbrook to active underwriter, both subject to regulatory approval.

Hall, who has held senior roles at Direct Line Group and Zurich, takes responsibility for the syndicate’s overall performance.

Tillbrook, who previously led ERS’s personal lines bespoke, commercial, and agriculture portfolios, has been promoted based on his success growing profitable niche and specialist classes. ERS continues to lead the UK motor market with over 90% of Lloyd’s motor business, supported by an A+ Lloyd’s rating and a digital-first trading approach through platforms like eTrade and APIs.

Fenchurch Law expands coverage disputes team in Singapore

Fenchurch Law has expanded its Singapore office with the appointment of Matthew King (pictured above, centre) as an associate specialising in insurance coverage disputes.

King joins from Michelmores, where he worked on a range of commercial and regulatory disputes, including intellectual property, shareholder, banking, insolvency, and insurance matters.

Since opening its Singapore hub in 2024, Fenchurch Law has focused on providing policyholders and brokers across Asia-Pacific with expert support on complex, high-value insurance disputes.

Toby Nabarro, director at Fenchurch Law Singapore, noted that King’s expertise would help strengthen the firm’s presence and service offering in the region.

QBE appoints director of underwriting for UK casualty division

QBE has named Adrian Browne (pictured above, right) as director of underwriting, casualty UK, with the appointment effective from January 2026. Browne has over 20 years’ experience spanning actuarial pricing and underwriting leadership, having served as portfolio manager for UK Casualty over the last four years.

He will report to Chris Wallace, executive director of UK Insurance at QBE Europe. Wallace emphasised Browne’s market reputation and solutions-driven approach as assets for continuing to support brokers and clients operating in a complex casualty insurance environment.

Envelop strengthens commercial leadership with new CCO

Finance packager Envelop has appointed Adrian Wickham (pictured immediately above, left) as chief commercial officer, expanding its senior leadership team to support ongoing growth.

Wickham brings experience from diverse sectors including construction, landscaping, legal services and corporate development.

In his new role, Wickham will lead the firm’s commercial strategy, focusing on enhancing relationships with introducers, brokers and distribution partners. His responsibilities include driving scalable operations and improving service delivery as Envelop aims to reinforce its market position.

Policy Expert appoints new chief risk & compliance officer

Policy Expert, a personal lines insurer, has appointed Tracey Crawley (pictured immediately above, right) as its new chief risk & compliance officer. Crawley joins from Aviva, where she was risk & governance director for general insurance. She brings almost three decades of experience in risk and compliance roles.

Her role at Policy Expert will involve managing regulatory risks, ensuring compliance with evolving financial regulations such as the FCA’s Consumer Duty and aligning risk management with the company’s strategic ambitions.
