Liberty has appointed Ed Louth (pictured, left) as head of aviation. Based in London, Louth reports to Meghan Walker, divisional director, marine, and aviation.
Louth brings 26 years of London market experience to Liberty and was formerly head of broking, global aviation, and space at Willis. As head of aviation, he will have overall responsibility for underwriting strategy and performance.
He succeeds Miles Taffs, who became interim head of aviation in September last year after joining Liberty as senior underwriting specialist for aviation in March. The company said Taffs will remain with Liberty to ensure a smooth transition and support the aviation team, while continuing to underwrite and manage key account and market relationships until his retirement on October 1.
“Ed is an exceptionally talented and highly respected leader in aviation, and I am delighted to welcome him to Liberty,” Walker said. “With experience across both broking and underwriting, his insatiable curiosity, strength of conviction, and rigorous standards of excellence strongly align with our values. I look forward to working with Ed as he puts his mark on the portfolio.”
Aon plc has appointed Catherine Williamson (pictured, right) as growth and technical director for its UK insolvency and restructuring insurance and risk team, based in Birmingham.
Williamson joins from AlixPartners in Manchester, where she served as partner and led the insolvency team. She oversaw high-profile administrations including Thomas Cook, Indigo Michael, and Cineworld. She has worked as an insolvency practitioner and qualified accountant for more than 25 years.
Aon noted the appointment comes as Aon’s team grew almost 25% while the insolvency market in England and Wales grew just 1.5% over the past year.
“Our team is excited to work with such a well-known insolvency practitioner,” said Mark Sanderson, managing director of UK insolvency and restructuring at Aon. “Catherine’s personality, energy and outstanding technical expertise will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our team.”
“I’ve long admired what Mark and the Aon team achieve in insolvency and restructuring scenarios that are challenging for clients,” Williamson said.
